Mexico s Aviacsa gets green light to resume flying
Mexico City – Mexico's Aviacsa airline, a unit of Grupo Madero, said it received "the technical certification to resume operations" and will "soon" be able to start flying again.

Aviacsa was grounded in late 2009 due to financial and operational difficulties.

The airline's securing of an Airline Operating Certificate, or AOC, was was the final requirement for restarting operations, Aviacsa said in a statement.

With the AOC, issued by the General Civil Aviation Administration, or DGAC, Aviacsa sees as covered the four requirements established by the Communications and Transportation Secretariat which are "technical, financial, judicial and administrative."

Obtaining the AOC shows "the company's current capacity for resuming operations in a safe, efficient manner," Aviacsa chief Andres Fabre said.

On Jan. 24, Aviacsa shed the receivership in which it had been immersed since July 9, 2009, having successfully negotiated its debts with its principal creditors and having obtained capitalization from Grupo Madero.

Before resolving the situation, the company received 400 million pesos ($33 million) from Grupo Madero for rehiring personnel, maintenance of facilities and refurbishment of aircraft.

Aviacsa hopes to invest another 1.1 billion ($92 million) over the 2011-2013 period.
